A WOMAN'S PRAYER
Dear Goddess:
So far today, I have done all right.
I have not gossiped, lost my temper,
been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish,
or self-indulgent.
I have not whined, cursed,
or eaten any chocolate.
However, I am going to get out of bed
in a few minutes and I will need
a lot more help after that. AMEN.
Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

You are the playwright and the director of your own life. You write the story, design the sets and scenes. You choose the cues to answer and those to ignore.
Decide: It is comedy, or tragedy? Drama, or farce?
Cast the characters, arrange the set, put on your makeup, choose your costume.
Take the stage – the Star.

Someone's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago. -- Warren Buffet
HEAR THE MUSIC
Have you ever watched kids playing on a merry go round, or listened to the rain lapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight, or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
Do you run through each day on the fly?
When you ask "How are you?" Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done, do you lie in your bed with the next hundred chores running through your head?
Ever told your child, "We'll do it tomorrow." And in your haste, not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch? Let a good friendship die? Wouldn't you rather just call to say "Hi"?
When you worry and hurry through your day, it is like an unopened gift....Thrown away...
Life is not a race. Take it slower.
Hear the music before the song is over.
Compliment me, and I may not believe you.
Criticize me, and I may not like you.
Ignore me, and I may not forgive you.
Advise me, and I may not understand you.
Encourage me, and I will not forget you.
- William Arthur Ward
If you have made mistakes, even serious mistakes, you may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing we call "failure" is not the falling down, but the staying down.
--Mary Pickford
The line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between political parties either--but right through every human heart.
-- Alexsandr Solzhenitsyn

You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.

DESIDERATA
Go placidly amid the noise and haste
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly and listen to others,
even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is.
Many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disappointment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars.
You have a right to be here.
And whether it is clear to you or not,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be,
and whatever your labours and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham and drudgery and broken dreams
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
Max Ehrman, 1927
We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.

Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage. -- Anais Nin
Be kind, for everyone you meet is
fighting a hard battle. -- Philo
Each day, and the living of it, has to be a conscious creation in which discipline and order are relieved with some play and pure foolishness. -- May Sarton
